About Me

I’m Josh Wells, a professional sports photographer based in Waterlooville, Hampshire, and the official photographer for Waterlooville AFC. My passion lies in capturing the energy, commitment, and emotion that make football more than just a game.

Every match tells a story — from the pre-match tension in the changing room to the last-minute goal celebrations under the floodlights. My aim is to preserve those moments in a way that feels real, powerful, and true to the sport.

My Story

Photography started as a hobby, but quickly became a lifelong obsession. What began with capturing local matches soon turned into something much bigger — documenting the dedication of players, the pride of fans, and the identity of clubs like Waterlooville AFC.

Working pitch-side has taught me the importance of timing, patience, and instinct. Sports photography isn’t just about pressing the shutter — it’s about anticipating the moment before it happens and being ready to freeze it forever.

My Approach

I believe the best photos come from understanding the sport and the people behind it. That’s why I work closely with Waterlooville AFC to make sure every image reflects the team’s identity — hardworking, passionate, and united.

I combine professional-grade equipment with an eye for detail, producing sharp, dramatic, and emotionally charged imagery. Whether it’s rain, floodlights, or a packed crowd, I thrive on the challenges that come with live sport.

Beyond the Lens

When I’m not pitch-side, I’m usually editing photos, planning the next shoot, or supporting local football. I’m proud to contribute to the growing visibility of grassroots sport in Hampshire and to help clubs tell their stories through strong visual media.
